Spring is a common season for planting seeds whether for a vegetable, plant or fruit garden. Some kinds of herbs, plants and even melons are among the ideal for a springtime sowing. If, however, you miss the ideal sowing season, you must wait until the right season rolls around again. Thankfully, there is a garden that can be planted any day of the year. Each day is the start of a season for the garden of life. The day-to-day season is my kind of season. For the garden of life, sowing can be done any time of year. In fact, we do exactly this every day. Each day, each of us sows seeds by our thoughts, words and actions. Each seed reaps an outcome. Far too often there is a disconnect between what we do and what shows up in our lives. There are a few reasons for this. The lapse of time between conduct and consequence can be so great that the thought of a relationship between the two never crosses the mind. There often is a tendency to blame someone else or some thing especially when others or some thing is somehow involved in the course of events that play out. Arrogance also plays a role in failure to see our hands in stuff. Denial keeps accountability at bay also. Frankly, I think the primary reason there is such a lack of connection between what we do and outcomes is because few people believe in that kind of power and unfolding. Most of us are taught there is a consequence for our actions but few of us are taught just how broad-sweeping that connection really is. Whatever our position or understanding, surely, no one would argue with sowing the best seeds possible. Right? Doing what is right and good is always in season. What is right and good are the seeds. Plant them and leave them to do what all the forces of nature know to do to reap a bountiful harvest. After all, when we plant our vegetable gardens, we do not disturb the process by digging up the seeds, re-examine them and plant them elsewhere, all while wondering just what is going on and how much longer will it be before we see inklings of cucumbers and eggplant. Of course not! We are so attached to what we can see that we cheat ourselves out of all that could be when we do not trust what we cannot see. We need to learn to do our part, relinquish control and trust. There is definitely a relationship between your thoughts and events. How many times have you received a call from someone who’d been on your mind? This is just a small testament to the powerful connection between thought and result. The same power applies to our words and our actions. Do not be fooled or mistaken. At all times, remember there is a connection even if it is the unforeseen domino effect of that thought, word or action. Also, do not be dismayed when things seem to go awry in spite of your best seeds. If things turn out differently than expected or desired when you plant your best seeds – what is right and good – there is a reason. This outcome is nothing compared to the courses of events and outcome that arise from planting bad seeds. What is important and key is that we simply sow our best seeds each and every day. Our role is to sow seeds that will reflect the harvest we want to reap in our garden of life. The Universe will take care of the rest. Happy Easter!
